3 scientists killed in road accident

A total of four people, including three officials of the Atomic Energy Research Institute, were killed in a tragic road accident at Savar in Dhaka. At least 12 people were injured in the incident. A senior scientific officer at the Atomic Energy Research Institute Dr. Md. Arifuzzaman, Engineer Md. Kawsar Ahmed Rabbi, Scientific Officer Pooja Sarkar and Driver Rajib were killed in the mishap. Among the injured, there are Subrata Saha, Scientific Officer of Atomic Energy Research Institute, Robin Barman, Farzana Akhter, Lia, Shahabuddin, Md. Imran Hossain Sourav, Nur Alam, Momin Byapari, Alamgir Alam Bhuiyan, Salam Bhuiyan, Roknuzzaman, Tanvir. According to the Atomic Energy Research Center, the funeral prayers will be held at the head office of the Atomic Energy Commission in Agargaon. It has been reported that a staff bus carrying officials and employees of Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission crashed on its way from Dhaka to Atomic Energy Research Institute, Savar at a place called Boliarpur near Aminbazar at around 9 am. Three scientists of the commission died in the accident (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilahi Raziun) and 9 others are undergoing treatment at Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar in critical condition. Meanwhile, after receiving the news of the accident, the Minister of Science and Technology of Bangladesh, Architect Yeafesh Osman and the Chairman of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission Dr. Md. Azizul Haque rushed to the Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar. Both expressed their condolences to the families of the victims and inquired about the overall treatment of the injured. Science and Technology Minister Architect Yeafesh Osman told the media, "The officials we have lost today have no replacement. We have lost some very talented officials who were the assets of the country, in fact, who is to say this grief?”  “People drive cars recklessly, causing death tolls of the common people as well as the people who are asset of the country”, he lamented. The minister also said that the families of the victims would be provided all possible assistance as per the government rules.
